Broadcasting

1. What is a Broadcast?

Broadcast is one of the best marketing tools to grow your business using your connections with an existing customer base. This feature is used to reactivate your existing subscribers, reveal their needs and interests, make-up sales and is also useful for sales proposals based on their replies. This is the next amazing AhaChat feature that gives you a chance to start a dialogue with your subscribers instantly, so you can:

  • Deliver a content to a list of subscribers and target them using audience filters
  • Get to know your audience and segment it with tags depending on users' replies (conversational actions).

2. How to Create a Broadcast?

Create Broadcast from existing flow by clicking +New Broadcast button in the upper left corner of Broadcast home page. This will open a Flow editor where you can easily set content of flow.

As soon the flow is selected you can proceed with sending it as is or editing it within Broadcast interface.

You should use spintax to randomize different contents for each customer to increase personalization, for example: Congratulations you have been {given|received |blessed with} a Gift worth $299 from shop.

3. Settings

Targeting: You can target each of your Broadcasts by lots of conditions: gender, tags, name, activity, language, timezone, etc. By adding targeting conditions, you can instantly see the number of users the message will be sent to.

Message Type: Please read this piece carefully as it directly relates to Facebook Messenger Platform Policies that regulate the ways different types of content should be delivered and the type of audience it can be delivered to.

Marketing Messages: A new message type that can help you reach your audience outside of the 24-hour window for free. It’s a bit different from the other free messages that you can send out via a tag.

  1. You can use it for promotional purposes
  2. Users need to explicitly opt-in for receiving notification
  3. You can send up to three followup messages on your first broadcast

One-Time Notification (OTN) message: A new message type that can help you reach your audience outside of the 24-hour window for free. It’s a bit different from the other free messages that you can send out via a tag.

  1. You can use it for promotional purposes
  2. Users need to explicitly opt-in for receiving notification
  3. It’s a single message (hence the name), you can’t send more than one per request

Promotional message: Allows you to send commercial messages. Note that with this option, your targeting will be limited to subscribers that were active (interacted with your bot) within the last 24 hours. Use this option carefully, you don't want to annoy your subscribers with mass promotions.

Subscription message allows you to deliver non-commercial content to your subscribers at any time you want provided. Use it as a conversational option to start a dialogue with your audience or notify on subscription-related topics. Keep in mind, however that Broadcast messages cannot contain any ads or promotional materials and it is limited by Facebook to following cases:

  • CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE:
Send the user reminders or updates for an event they have registered for (e.g., RSVP'ed, purchased tickets). This tag may be used for upcoming events and events in progress. See examples:

  • Reminder of upcoming classes, appointments, or events that the user has scheduled

  • Confirmation of user's reservation or attendance to an accepted event or appointment

  • Notification of user's transportation or trip scheduled, such as arrival, cancellation, baggage delay, or other status changes

  • POST_PURCHASE_UPDATE:
Notify the user of an update on a recent purchase. For example:
  • Confirmation of transaction, such as invoices or receipts
  • Notifications of shipment status, such as product in-transit, shipped, delivered, or delayed
  • Changes related to an order that the user placed, such credit card has declined, backorder items, or other order updates that require user action
  • ACCOUNT_UPDATE:
The most commonly widespread tag is "Account Update". Notify the user of a non-recurring change to their application or account. For example:
  • A change in application status (e.g., credit card, job)
  • Notification of suspicious activity, such as fraud alerts

Segment: Allows you to choose the first and last order of the subscriber list and the speed at which messages are sent:

  • Sent from subscriber [x] to subscriber [y] to split the number of submissions to avoid spam. For example, if you have 9,000 subscribers and want to send broadcast messages every day to 3,000 subscribers, you can choose Send from subscriber [1] to subscriber [3000]
  • Number of messages sent per minute [x] is also used to split submissions to avoid spam.

Schedule Broadcast: Start sending your Broadcasts immediately or schedule it to be sent on a particular date and time.
